A Coastal Running Fest

Founded in 2015, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon, a Coastal Running Fest, celebrates the local flare and beauty of running along the scenic beaches from Pass Christian to Biloxi. Races include a marathon (26.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles), 5K (3.1 miles) and kids marathon race program (a 1.2 mile fun run).

The weekend kicks off Friday, December 8th with a Health & Wellness Expo at the Mississippi Coast Convention Center in Biloxi.

On Saturday, December 9th the 5K and the Kids Marathon are held at Point Cadet Plaza in Biloxi. There will be a post-race party and the expo will reopen.

On Sunday, December 10th the marathon starts in Pass Christian and half marathon starts in Gulfport. Both Finish in the MGM Park stadium in front of cheering crowds of families and friends.

The Coors Light Finish Festival will be held Sunday morning at MGM Park, a post-race beach-party offering local Gulf Coast seafood, Mississippi style BBQ and live performances as runners cross the finish line.

A Team with Local Roots

Left to Right: Bourgeois • Sweeney • Dziuba • Fellows

Bourgeois, Danny • Marketing Director
Danny is Marketing Director for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon and The Louisiana Marathon. He has been in marketing for over 25 years and has specialized in endurance and sports events, corporate travel and tourism and hospitality and gaming. He runs, bikes and attempts to stay afloat in the water.

Dziuba, Jonathan ‘Juba’ • Race Director
Juba is the Race Director of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon. He ensures we are not just producing one exceptional race for many runners, but rather many individual races for each runner. It’s a true test of vision, leadership and communication to guide the company and the race production Krewe each year from concept to fruition. He also adds this running festival to a portfolio of events he directs, including The Louisiana Marathon. Directing and producing high quality running and triathlon events is important to Juba as he likes to race and compete in them as often as he can.

Fellows, Pat • Event Director
Pat serves as the Event Director for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon. He grew up and went to school on the coast. After DNF-ing the 2006 Austin Marathon, he made an off hand comment that he’d be more likely to swim a marathon. With the struggles of Katrina, he hatched the idea to swim the Mississippi Sound to raise money for kids programs across the Gulf South. 32 miles later this event helped forge his passion for endurance events — he swam over 26.2 miles before he ran his first marathon.

While his parents still live in Gulfport and he calls the area home, he currently resides in Baton Rouge, La. He trains, competes, cooks, speaks and manages endurance events when he isn’t with his family on the coast. He’s one of the founders of The Louisiana Marathon.

Sweeney, Craig  • Strategic Partnerships Director
Craig serves as the Strategic Partnerships Director, and he also went to school on the Coast. He works closely with local city, state and regional leaders in community, private and non-profit sectors to ensure that all are well-represented at the event. He’s one of the founders of The Louisiana Marathon and has served as the Race Director and Strategic Partnerships Director for over 5 years. He competes in many races and triathlons in the region.

Recently, the four directors enjoyed participating in the 2015 Marine Corps Marathon with Ainsley’s Angels of America. Each of these gentlemen will attest that they are proud of the work they do with Ainsley’s Angels in the endurance space and while technically they were pushing behind chairs for Team Jena and Team Ashton; they found out what it meant to be pulled along the course.

As the Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon transpires, these guys intend to develop a strong set of charity, non-profit and community drive initiatives.
